Best beer themed songs

I hate modern country with a passion, but I have to admit that Toby Keith’s drinking songs are pretty catchy. “Red Solo Cup” in particular.

This is one catchy tune:

Poxy Boggards’ Drink till I die:

For those who are familiar with the Brewing Network crew, the main actor in the video that drinks till he dies is The BN’s Charlie “Push Eject” Essers.

Forgot about this one -  Albert Collins “I Ain’t Drunk, I’m Just Drinking”. Local radio station used to play this every Friday on the drive home. Great blues guitarist, great tune.

The Thorogood version of One Bourbon includes a mashup with House Rent Boogie.

Kim Mitchel - Go For a Soda

Kim Mitchel - Lager & Ale

Bran Vans 3000 - Drinking In LA

These are three of my favorite, not to mention anything by The Real McKenzies.

Can’t forget “wasn’t that a party”, don’t recall who did it, country from the early eighties.

Oh, and Bar Room Buddies - I think Merle Haggard and Clint Eastwood

I am gonna have to name my next beer Charlie Mopps…

Skankin Pickle! One of my favorite bands from the 90s!

Beer by Pyscostick

I wish you were a beer: Cycle Sluts from hell (pardon my French)

I found and digitized a cassette tape given to me in 1991 by the once very active and inspiring Old Pueblo Homebrewers Club out of Tucson, Arizona.  I visited them a few times to participate in competitions and conferences and homebrewer visits.

All these songs are now digitized into one file and archived.

I transcribed these notes from the cassette notes

Beer Toonz!
From Tucson’s Old Pueblo Homebrewer Club.  1991.  Compiled by Kidd Squidd

That pale, amber dew commonly known as ‘beer’ plays a prominent role in any number of popular songs.                Almost thirty flue years ago Chuck Berry sang about drinking homebrew from a wooden cup." One of Hank Williams’ saddest songs is built around the refrain “my bucket’s got a hole in it, I can’t buy no beer.” And Van Morrison frequently punctuates his more nostalgic songs with cries for the porter and stout of his homeland. Even local Tucson bands like Chuck Wagon and the Wheels or the Dusty Chaps sang more than one paean to the kiss of the hops. At another end of the spectrum, Randy Newman proved himself to be somewhat more dour (and a tot more verbose) with the following lyrics; “Myself, I don’t like to drink the way I used to, man / Ta know, it doesn’t seem to get me high; / The beer don’t taste the way it oughta taste now / and I just don’t know why.”

None of these sentiments is totally foreign to a Homebrewer. Anyone who was fortunate enough to have attended an Old Pueblo Homebrewers meeting has probably drunk more than one beer that was worthy of a song. To commemorate these halcyon days of homebrewing in Tucson, we asked KXCIs Kidd Squidd if he would prepare a "Rock Roots-style tape as a tribute to the Old Pueblo Homebrewers.

So it was one hot, thirsty day in July, that Squidd dug through his archives to assemble the masterpiece you hold in your hands: 90 minutes of beer-inspired music from the classic to the obscure. Fire up the tape deck and grab a cold one
(homebrewed if you got it!), kick back and enjoy yourself.          As the Kidd says,
“Cheerz”

Warm Beer (Cold Women) - Cats On Holiday

This is the one I was going to add… had to scroll back a bit, but I figured it has already been mentioned.

I think that was by “The Rovers”, an Irish/Country cross-over band.  They also did “Grandma got run over by a reindeer”.

I didn’t check to see if it was mentioned, if not don’t forget “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” George Thorogood.

An old Australian song by Slim Dusty called, “I’d Love to Have a Beer with Duncan”
