Carafa III vs. Carafa "special" III

What is the difference between Carafa III and Carafa Special III? I always thought they were the same thing, but after visiting the Weyermann website, I think I’m wrong about that. I have a stout recipe on deck, which includes some of the normal (i.e. non-special) carafa III, and ordered grains from Morebeer. Morebeer only offers carafa special III, so that’s what I got. Are they interchangeable?

The specials are Dehusked, so less astringent/acrid.

+1. I’ll simply add that some styles benefit from the bite of the carafa while in other beers the bite would be out of place IMO. These beers (Munich Dunkel comes to mind) are where the dehusked ‘special’ comes in.
