Castle vs Dingemans Pils malt

Does anyone have any experience with comparing the flavors or performance?  The reason I ask is that I’ve gotten significantly higher extract from bestmalz pils compared to weyerman, and a noticeable (but subtle) difference in flavor.

Maybe my palette isn’t as sensitive but I have used Weyermann and Dingaemans and didn’t notice a lot of difference. I really like Weyermann malts though and have used 50lb bags of their Pale Ale malt for different beers. I’ve never used bestmalz and I don’t think my LBS carries it.
Personally the one pale malt that always stands out my mind as being somewhat unique and fantastic is Marris Otter and that’s about it.

I’ve tried all of those and decided I prefer Best for flavor.  Haven’t noticed much difference in extraction, IIRC.

To the OP, he is specifically inquiring about Castle pilsner malt vs Dingemanns correct?  I personally prefer Dingemann’s belgian pilsner malt, but that is also what I started off brewing with as it was the only continental pilsner malt that my LHBS carried. I feel that it has a fuller, rounder, flavor with a bit more sweetness than the Castle. But that is just me.

I’ve used both and found both to be of high quality. I agree that Dingemanns is a tad fuller, so I slightly prefer it.

Edit -  As to performance, I don’t remember much difference in extract.

Agreed. No difference really noted extraction-wise.

Agree that both are great but Dingemans is preferred.

I rarely use these Pilsner malts, but Dingeman’s is preferred.  Definitely for Belgians. Otherwise my favorite is Best Malz, then Weyermann (floor malted when available), then pretty much a tie between Rahr and Avengard.  And I will say that I don’t fuss as to what is available, so Avengard is my most readily available malt and used the most.  I have to drive a ways to get a sack of Best, but will do so on occasion…

We Belgian homebrewers don’t really care too much which of the two.
Oh and it’s Dingemans, genitive Dingemans’, and not:
Dingaemans
Dingemanns
Dingemann’s
Dingemann
Dingeman’s
Dingeman

I stand corrected.  And it is still not my favorite when spelled correctly.

Dynngaemaannz?

Dang man?

And it’s Roeselare, not Roselaere or whatever, and Dupont, not DuPont. They make saisons, not f*ing rubber. Glad to get that off my chest.
