Free hops

When I renewed my membership to the AHA this year I got 4oz of Jaryllo and 4oz of Azaaca hops for free. I made a single hopped APA from each.

The Azaaca have sort of a floral grapefruit flavor. As you can see I did hop bursting. I am getting absolutely no bitterness to the finish and no cloying sweetness either. The balance seems to be perfect.

This beer is only a very minor variance in flavor from the Azaaco. Less grapefruit, smoother, more of a lemon? floral notes are still there. Definitely a smoother and slightly more refreshing beer.

Sounds like a nice profile for an APA.  I can’t wait to get my free hops.  I’m eager to get the mail every day.  Hopefully the AHA didn’t forget me.  I had trouble renewing my membership online for the second year in a row.

When did they start doing that? I renewed in February and didn’t get any. No biggy just surprised to hear that.

I think it started mid-May.

How about some sugar for the 3-year and lifetime renewals?

Thanks for posting. My APA with Azacca and El Dorado is just finishing up so I am excited to see how it turns out.

It is good to hear positive impressions of Jarrylo. I didn’t care for them that much but they were used in combination with another hop so I couldn’t really make a clear judgement…

Yeah!
