Homebrewing Podcasts

What brewing podcasts are folks listening to these days? This topic pops up on the forums from time-to-time, but it has been a few years, and I’m sure I’ve missed some.
Experimental Brewing is my primary podcast “home,” Brew’d Up is another favorite, and I also listen to Brulosophy from time to time.
I like stuff that has interesting interviews, and the inside baseball stuff is often intriguing for me…I don’t particularly care for the “beer-bro” podcasts (i.e., podcasts with language/topics/ads that I wouldn’t listen to with my spouse or kids around). I usually listen to stuff on my phone, so YouTube channels are also of minimal interest (although I really enjoy watching Brew Dudes and Brulosophy).
So, what am I missing? What should I consider listening to?

BeerSmith podcast has quality guests that seem to be creating the near term ‘future of homebrewing’ (e.g. Chris Graham in #309)

Basic Brewing Radio, especially when my interests and their themes align. If the current topics are not interesting to me, there’s a 20 year backlog of episodes.

The aforementioned plus:

  • Drink Beer, Think Beer
  • All About Beer
  • How Not to Start a Damn Brewery (moderate cussing in this one)
  • The Brü Lab
  • BYO Nano
  • Craft Beer and Brewing

I can’t keep up with every episode of all of these; so I have to pick and choose episodes. My podcast queue is sitting at 27½ hours right now…

I used to listen to podcasts all the time when I went to the Y regularly but fell out of that practice when the facility closed for covid. This week however I started back up and refreshed all my go-to homebrew pod-casts… Basic Brewing Video (watch on the treadmill), Experimental Brewing with Denny & Drew, and The Brulosophy Podcast.

  • Sense of Beer Style is a pretty good primer on various beer styles.
  • Brew Strong with Jamil Zainasheff is pretty good, though it’s schedule has been sporadic lately.
  • The Start a Brewery Podcast has some great info on going pro. It started its second season this year, but the last episode was back in July.
  • MoreBeer has one, but it’s just the audio of some of their YouTube videos. eh.

The others I listen to have already been mentioned:

  • BYO Nano Podcast
  • How Not to Start a Damn Brewery
  • BeerSmith Homebrewing Podcast

I listen to one podcast.

Homebrew Happy Hour! I joined one of their Tier Member slots and get a brew kit every other month. Down to earth discussions as Josh, Todd and James answer questions posted by the listeners.

Might be a little rougher than what you’re looking for, but I’ve gone back and I’m starting The Session over again from day one. Lots of great information.
