I found this forum totally by accident while searching for information on ‘dry hopping’ which is a rather new concept for me. I started brewing beer in the 1970’s with LME kits and the results -while drinkable- weren’t really to my taste and so I gave up after a couple of years. I also brewed hard cider and kept doing that as I liked my product better than any I could buy in the liquor store.
I live in Canada and as some of you may know, we have a -shall I say- a ‘problematic’ government and it was the reason I started brewing again a couple of years ago when it started jumping up the excise taxes on beer, wine, and liquors. I decided I didn’t need to pay those taxes when I could brew my own. I found out quickly that the advances in the equipment, materials, and knowledge since the 70’s has been astronomical. I have bought a kegerator, two ten liter kegs, two nineteen liter kegs, a 35 liter fermenter, a BuonVino wine filter, and temperature controlled heating units. The beer I make now is decent for my taste and I’m actually experimenting some now as well. My latest batch of beer started out as a 23 liter LME kit expanded to 35 liters with an addition of DME, some dextrose, and ale yeast. It’s my favorite result so far and now I am looking at increasing the aromatic character without increasing bitterness. Looking forward to looking through here and finding out more about this craft…
Welcome to the forum. When you said “y’all” I thought you were from the south
Not quite. ![]()
That expression was adopted very readily by three visits to your country’s AFSAM at the National Guard MTU in Little Rock, Arkansas… ![]()
Welcome to >the< forum.
I made to Little Rock AFB a couple of times, but never over to the MTU. Arkansas is an oft underrated state; there’s some beautiful country up there.
Welcome.
