Not sure simply changing view to Categories is the answer.
There are not as many “New” posts as in the prior forum.
Sorry, but, IMO, I prefer the “old” forum.

The new forum is realtively easy to use. I wasn’t a huge fan or user of the old forum software. But I’m going to make a concerted effort to use the new forum.
A forum is only as good as the people using it regardless of the software. But I do appreciate the updated features of the new fourm.
Maybe I’m just old, but i haven’t gotten comfortable with the way it’s organized.
You got this Kev. We are here to guide you on your path of discovery. Just kidding. It does take some learning.
This is a pretty awful interface. I would go with something like Simple Machines.
I had to email the bigwigs to get back in after the upgrade, so maybe others have had the same problem.
HBT has a very good, intuitive interface. I would try to find something similar.
I like the new system —
I do kinda miss the signature blocks, but that’s pretty minor. [I figured out you can achieve the same end by setting up the details in your profile. It just doesn’t show at the bottom of every post.]
Here here Andy. It takes a village and it will take us time to get major momentum. The activity I see since migration is not only encouraging, but also easier to engage with, comment on, share photos/videos, search, etc. Thank YOU to anyone and everyone who is willing to share a link to the new forum and encourage others to participate.
Welcome to the AHA Forum James. Good beers to you.
Stay the course and it will grow. The content alone and our educated moderators and long standing forum-ites deliver.
I feel this is better than the old AHA Forum, but I agree that HBT provides a bit more flexibility for things like different types of reactions and making out easy to follow certain threads.
Brewbama mentioned (on another forum) that this new platform doesn’t accept Tapatalk (honestly … I’m not even sure what Tapatalk is) and so he is not posting here as much.
You’re right. This new software is horrible. I belong to all sorts of forums. This one is extremely badly designed. It’s counterintuitive, out of step with the times, and very unpleasant to use. The forum wasn’t doing great to begin with. Making using it a bad experience will drive people to other sites.
I am not a tech kinda guy, so take this for what it is worth. My opinion is that this forum seems to get much less response to a post than over at HBT, but with that said, the responses I have gotten have always been super helpful and on target. There are pluses to both and I have gotten so much info on both forums that my regular morning routine is to peruse both. HBT has more chit chat and political stuff that I don’t read. I tried posting to one of the political threads and took it on the chin for voicing my opinion. But, I got it, that is a bit of a hot point for most, so I quickly decided that my posts to the political threads were not going to happen, so I stick with things I can add some insight or at least know a bit about. In my opinion, both forums have valuable info and people in them that have helped me incredibly in my quest for homebrewing. The new look, while a bit confusing at first, I have come to get used to. So, to me, this forum as is has been incredibly helpful for me and I hope those in it continue to help. Rock on!!!
That’s very unfortunate. I have always respected BrewBamas opinion and perspective. I hope he returns soon.
Here is a thread from September about using DiscourseHub instead of Tapatalk for the Forum. Tapatalk is a mobile app for forums such as ours. I never really got into Tapatalk, but I just followed the instructions for DiscourseHub and a couple minutes later I was reading Forum through it.
I know change can be hard, particularly if the old environment was working for someone and the change seemed unnecessary and burdensome, but it might be worth finding out if Brewbama is aware of DiscourseHub and has tried it out.
I’m likely older than you are and I love it. Found it easy to use and learn.
I use the Discourse app and it is easy to post and upload pics. Not sure what the issue is
It does seem a little slower. Maybe it’s the holidays. I feel like the forum used to be more dead on the weekends and more lively on the weekdays. That might suggest that people like to browse while at work or something. Not sure. But now it seems slower in general. Maybe it’s just me. Some people don’t like change and they don’t like learning something new where it used to be something easy and comfortable.
My perception is that it’s pretty much the same amount of traffic as before.
