I have had the opposite impression. I see posts from lots of new names. Lots of times there is a note this is the first post from said user in X years.
I have never thought of this forum as high volume. Homebrewtalk has many more posts per day. I think AHA Forum is higher quality. Most posts here are about beer and brewing. Homebrewtalk has lots more non-beer and brewing posts.
I see more than a couple of posts each day. I wonder if you’re using a view that’s hiding some of the posts. What is your default view for checking the site?
I have to agree with many brewers, it seems there are many fewer posts than with the previous platform. I wanted to bring this subject up earlier, but thought it was my imagination.
At quick glance there were 7 threads with activity yesterday. This thread had about 5 posts yesterday. I am not sure how many posts were in each of the other threads.
Anecdotally, it does seem a little lighter on activity to me, but I don’t have numbers of pre-transition. I guess I would expect some fall-off if folks have trouble with log-in, whatever, or frustration with change. That said, it has been nice to see some returning folks, too!
One thing we can each do as individuals is encourage people we know in our brewing circles to check out the AHA forum! It’s definitely my favorite of the various options, in terms of knowledge and culture.
I think they may have allowed more filters to be used. I tweaked a few things and keep getting more and more new post stuff honestly. And I was here during the old forum.
I have to agree with the OP. But I also agree this forum is a bit more beer related vs HBT which has a little of everything. Neither is bad, just different. But, with that said, I have noticed a slow down at HBT as well. I used to come on in the morning to 5 or 6 new posts to threads I participated in, now maybe 2 or 3 and that is a good day. Maybe the season is slowing things down or people are just burnt out with the current events and such. Either way, still some great info on both forums.
I have to agree with you. I think there could be a little burnout. Additionally, I think weather patterns have been affecting things. School starting, all of the annoying things in life.
One thing I think is that with this new forum and the topic sorting - it’s a ton easier to see new posts when they appear as opposed to the older forum that had a lot more hunting going on to find your new topics.
That was my impression as well - more new users, and more posts from lapsed users. But this entire Forum post is built on anecdata, my impressions included, and the discussion has been limited to observable stuff such as topic posts and replies, versus the usage data that would emerge from analytics such as views, searches, logins, how long users stay on site, etc. Perhaps after the new Forum has settled into place and more AHA members are aware of it there could be an occasional (quarterly?) summary of user metrics for Forum.
I find myself less interested now in this forum since the facelift.
The changes to me are just plain clumsy.
The categories are poorly organized, the grouping is confused.
I find it much harder to use overall.
I want to come in and quickly peruse topics and not labor for information.
HBT layout is way better organized.
Again, just to my taste.
I kinda agree with you. I don’t come-on much after the alleged “upgrade.” I just don’t like the looks of the site, anymore. The pre-upgrade site was easier to read and made it easy to see many more topics and discussion threads at one glance. I know I’m nobody 'round here, so members may flush my comment(s) as they so please. I won’t wet my pan’nies over it…
