If you’re reading this, you have likely noticed that the forum has undergone a MAJOR facelift. This upgrade reflects the important role the AHA Forum has played in the homebrewing community for more than 15 years. Our new Discourse platform equips you with improved search tools, image and video support, a mobile-friendly interface, and more, more, more.

The AHA Forum is about…Relax, don’t worry, have a homebrew. Our extensive archive of homebrewing knowledge has been migrated and is fully searchable. If you used the forum in the past, please note that ‘Categories’ are similar, but not identical.

Sorry, but I’m totally lost here now. I can’t get an overview of the topics, and what is happening. To me this forum now seems more or less useless.

I may be stupid, I’ll allow for that. But this is such a radical departure from what forums use to look like.

Yes old forum content was great and a shining example of why the AHA community is so boss, but…the infrastructure was dated with no ability to search (like wow), attach images, track posts in the same way, earn trust levels that give you more, get notifications, view via an app (yes Discourse has an app to view the Forum) and, and.

We migrated over all the content. Now, if you hang with us, you will notice the improvements. As we each (me included) get used to it we will have a better collective experience with more information accessible. Members can give us a call if you need a walkthrough and you can also customize your layout and what you see. If you are willing ‘click’ around and try out more features slowly. That is the way I’m getting to know it.

I think what you’re asking for is the ability to look at the content of individual categories. That is still available. Click the highlighted button in photo below and select categories.

The search function is great, and I’m picky about search. (Given, any search function at all was an improvement :wink: ) I also really like the way earlier posts are suggested when you start a new topic – and how you can scroll through the suggested posts while you are writing.

i may be wrong - but from my POV of wanting to:

  1. click my bookmarked AHA forum page > quickly see new topics posted+my topics that were replied to . then read+post and leave (total maybe 5 to 15 mins)

this site has a few issues.

  1. i need to login now using my email rather than my username? (i may be wrong here?)
  2. i clicked on a long-running thread the “what are you brewing this weekend?” one - it sent me back to the first post in 2014 rather than the most recent post. i scrolled down and it just kept going. ?? kinda awkward
  3. i dont see titles of threads popping at me, i see boxes of text. sorry but it is not intuitive for analyzing this data/page

it may just be new-thing shock, and my own person POV, but in case the construciton of this page is ongoing these are my thoughts.

For your issues 1&2.

  1. Get the app “Discourse Hub”. You don’t need to login every time.

  2. See pic below. Click the button on bottom right “5700/5700”. The screen will change and you can move the dial to the last post in the thread.

Re #1: The web app shouldn’t be logging you out each time. Maybe you don’t allow cookies either?

i clear my cookies and stuff everytime i log out. unlike most people i dont stay auto-logged into anything. lol so i do type my several passwords many times a day. my stupid work password is litearlly like 16 characters long

Yes click on user name you want to message direct. Notifications on messages depend on how individual set up in their settings.
