I don’t know why people are so down on regular Munton’s. I brewed this last month and it turned out great.
Back Bench bitter: three gallons, O G 1.050, F G 1.009, IBUs 40s
3 lbs. Pearl malt
3 lbs. Optic malt
8 ozs. carastan malt
4 ozs. British crystal 60
4 ozs. biscuit malt
8 ozs. demerara sugar
1/3 oz. home grown goldings plus
1/8 oz. admiral to FWH
1/3 oz. challenger plus
1/2 oz. admiral for 45 minutes
irish moss and nutrient for 15 minutes
1/2 oz. H G goldings plus
1/8 oz. admiral for 9 minutes
1 oz. H G goldings plus
1/4 oz. admiral to steep.
2 packs of Munton’s
Are you talking about Muntons Stardard yeast or Muntons Gold?
Muntons markets these for ease of use and price rather than style suitability. That and the 6g size instead 11.5g turns me off.
That being said I would try them. What is the Muntons Gold ester profile like?
I havent used either the regular or Gold Muntons but I have heard good things about the Gold. Based on what I have read here on this forum I want to give it a try in an English Ale.
Standard. Two packs of 6g Munton’s is cheaper than one pack of 11.5g size yeast.
I say if you are getting results you like then carry on.
If you are happy with the results, then that is all that counts.
