Tornado hit my son's school

Pretty scary, I was listening on the radio as his school was hit. Had a pretty serious prayer. Lots of damage, especially around the school but the kids were all right.

scary! I am glad your kid is okay! tornadoes are scary.

I’m glad he’s alright, all the kids I hope.  This has been a pretty freaky winter

Well damn.  That’s terrifying.

My mom’s old school in Springfield, MA was destroyed last year in the freak MA tornado event.

nothing like hearing that kind of thing.  my oldest’s college roomate went to chardon high (ohio shooting) freaked them all out to see that on TV.  it is surrealistic.

Wow. Do they still do tornado drills?

Thankfully the kids are ok!

wow scary news, glad he is ok

Woah, glad everyone is fine!  Scary stuff.

Damn that’s frightening. Glad everyone’s OK.

From miles off, tornados are awe inspiring. When they hit your sons school, not so much. Glad he’s safe. Been a pretty trippy winter. This is March 2nd. We should not be dealing with this yet.

Holy s*** Keith…that was a stressful situation to say the least.

Glad to hear everyone was okay.

Amen!

I was following the weather warnings and saw Huntsville on the weather radar map.  My prayers were with you and yours Keith.  Thank God the kids are OK!

I’m glad to hear your kids are okay Keith.  The buildings can be rebuilt.

Encourage them to talk about it if they can.  They will be less scared of it if they can talk it out.

Paul

Thanks for all the comments and concerns, folks. The building only sustained minor damage. A 100+ year beautiful old farm house across the road was completely destroyed. It is a miracle and a testament to modern construction that the building didn’t get more damage.

It was pretty rough sitting in my car listening to the radio knowing that the tornado was veering down right where my kid was. Talk about feeling helpless. He is totally alright though, physically and emotionally.

This made national news. Thankfully you and your family are okay Keith.

The Prius on slide 7 is one of my business partner’s wife’s car. She is the Librarian at my son’s school.

Ouch!  :frowning:

Scary stuff man.

Slide 5 with the telephone pole sheared in half is incredible.  :o

Wow, those are stunning photos!  Amazing destruction; talk about having your world torn apart.
Very sad for those folks.

I was charting the path of blue on the radar here,
and was shocked at how widespread the red cells were across the east.

Crazy.  Is that even “tornado country”?

I would be hogging out a root cellar.
