Today this new discussion board software let me know that I am now a “trusted” member of the community. WTF? I have been posting here for years. I believe I am trusted by all my fellow homebrewers, except maybe for Denny, who distrusts my love of Fuggles hops.
Now I am not sure I trust you. I always thought you said Fuggles taste like dirt
We trust you. Now discourse does too
Read this about Discourse trust levels.
Edit: PS — anyone who likes Dirt hops Fuggles is definitely suspect.
Let’s see
I like food that tastes of smoke.
Hops that taste like dirt as well as hops that smell like cat piss.
Definitely suspect
I love cat piss hops! In 2006 I brewed this:
Cat Piss Cattle Feed Barleywine
Mash:
20 lbs. Schreier 6-row malt
1 lb. flaked maize.
Double mash. Divide grist in half. Mash-in first half at 150°F, rest for 30 min, then lauter. Add collected wort to second half of grist, add boiling water to raise to mash for 45 min more. Lauter. Dump first half grist back into the lauter tun, add boiling water, and sparge more to collect 8 gallons of wort. Boil for 120 minutes down to 5 gallons.
Hops:
Clusters (6.2%) pellets:
1 oz. FWH
1.5 oz. 60 min
1.5 oz. 45 min
1 oz. 30 min
1 oz. 15 min
2 oz. Saaz leaf 3.5% at knockout.
Wyeast 2278 Czech Pils, 6 weeks at 52°F.
OG: 1.095
FG: 1.028
