Czech Pils. First lager. Probably could have chosen an easier style, but I figure what the heck.
Ya know, 20 years ago I figured if I could make a clean European Lager, I could make anything. It took several tries, but the effort and educational experiences were worth the effort. The resources are much better these days, so I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Dortmunder Saturday. Just a 5 gallon batch to get some yeast going. Should be good for a few Vienna’s and O-Fest’s in the following months. Sunday is a Smokin’ day. 2 pork butts for pulled pork & ~30 lbs. of hams that have been curing for the past 2 weeks. Cheers!!!
Ya, I kinda feel the same way. Ever since my first visit to the Czech Rep. this has been one of my favorite styles. I’m sure it will take several tries to get a decent version down, but I figure I may as well start now. Thanks!
Going to do a California Common with homegrown hops, and need to rack some cider, and keg a porter.
Hoping to brew a maple porter with homemade maple syrup.
Nice! do you have your own sugarbush or did you find folks with unused maples? How’d you boil? I helped some friends one year with an outdoor shallow pan boiler, took like a cord of wood to get them 2 gallons of syrup.
Just got a starter of WLP007 going on the stirplate for a stout brew Monday or Tuesday.
I’ll be making a Doppelbock for a contest in Feb and kegging a Pumpkin Ale for drinking later this month.
Update: Brewing a Munich Helles so i can then have enough yeast for the Doppelbock.
Kegging 30 gallons of various Belgians for the Tennessee Cigar and Brew Fest at the end of the month . . Nothing more.
No brewing. Dry hopping 3 different 10g batches of AIPA. ;D
Well, I’ve already got my fall seasonals done so I’m going back to the hops! Brewing up a Stone Levitation clone tomorrow. This is probably my favorite session beer. I’ve never brewed anything this low in alcohol that had so many hops so it should be a fun one. Will also get a starter going for a cider. I make a raspberry cider for my wife every year when the juice becomes available again. It turns out pretty damn awesome.

cheba - can you send me the recipe (and any hints on cider making) - I have never made one, but that sounds awesome!
I kegged a dunkelweizen and brewing a sweet stout. Finished drinking my english mild.
I need hops so a trip to the LHBS is in order. Probably an ordinary bitter with brewer’s gold, centennial and amarillo.
Have a roasted Passilla Amber aging for the club’s “Dark and Scary” event! It’s nice and aromatic with a hint of burn and nice malty sweetness…
Fermenting: Whiskey Barrel RIS
Gonna teach a friend about brewing tomorrow… He was pretty excited to learn, so he’s coming over for some beers and a brew session… Going to make an oatmeal RIS
