Halloween is past - holidays loom - what’s your brew?
might mess around with the barley wine i brewed a month back. That’s got to move to secondary for a couple more months before packageing. And sample the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Stout that I added raisins to the weekend before last. That kicked up a fairly vigourous new fermentation. Big thick creamy krausen. It’ll be interesting for sure. I didn’t take the raisins into account when I built the recipe and they add a significant amount of sugar.
Unless anything unforeseen happens, Blatzhaus Brauerei is finally going Electric this weekend.
Am brewing a munich dunkel doing something simple (step mash, but no decoction) as the BHE looks like it may be a lot higher than my usual cooler setup - I want the flexibility to just say I brewed a Bock if it gets too high.
Survived the wrath of Sandy and still on track to brew a Hoppy Imperial Red Ale on Saturday.
Good luck on the electric brewery Paul!
Going to make a lager that does not fit into the BJCP styles, a Landbier.
Looking to hit 1.050-52, about 25 IBUs, fair amount of late hops for flavor, and maybe FWH(?). These beers are balanced with big noble hop flavor.
Grain bill will be 80% Pils, 17% Munich I, and 3% Caramunich. I am thinking about just doing a 153F fusion. Being lazy.
WLP 833 will be the yeast. Fairly soft water. Pitch at 45F, ferment at 48F.
A commercial version that can be found by some is the New Glarus Two Women Lager.
I’m brewing but not sure what yet. I have made two half-gallon starters of WLP090. So, maybe two 5gal batches to build the yeast up but I’m leaning towards making a big barleywine and pitch both starters.

We are all brewing a porter to age in a barrel one of the members got from Allagash. This will be my first attempt at taking my homebrew system on the road. I just know I’ll forget something.
I may also try a pale ale on Sunday using the Falconers Flight I have sitting in my freezer.
Glad to hear it Ron. Some of those pictures from NYC & NJ are just incredible (and not in a good way).
Brewing a SMaSH recipe this weekend. Maris Otter malt and Centennial hops. Was going to brew last weekend but the leaves in the yard called my name. Or maybe it was my wife that called my name and told me about the leaves in the yard… :o
Now that I have power back, I can bottle my Porter. I’d like to get one more brew started before hunting season, but time is pretty tight right now. This will probably be all she wrote for a few more weeks for me.
I’ll be brewing an extract batch of Waldo Lake Amber for a LTHB Day demo. First time I’ve brewed in almost 3 months!
We’re feeling it here for you north-eastern storm survivors, hope you all made it through ok.
Since it looks like a good weekend to brew here on the west coast & I need a everyday drinker for the kegerator I’ll probably dream something up when I go the HB shop, likely a crisp apa with whatever hops are available.
Cheers!
This is my plan as well.
Nothing for me this weekend. All of my fermenters are full ;D.
I might brew a dunkel, but I’ll more than likely just work on configuring the gas plumbing on my brew stand.
Just turned off the burner and added 6 oz of hops to an English IPA. I used a pound of hops for a 10 gallon recipe, not counting dry hops - hope it isn’t too much… ;D
We are doing a Learn to Homebrew Day event at our local pub!

Doing an all-grain Rebel Rye Porter (a Northern Brewer recipe) as well as an extract American Pale Ale with plenty of homegrown hops.
Wife and kids are out of town on Saturday so it’ll be a Belgian Dark Strong day for me. Brewing up one of my own in the morning and then going to a tapping party for the one my club brewed up at Lost Rhino brewery a month or so back.
Doing a Learn to Homebrew Day event at Summits Wayside Tavern in Woodstock, GA and will be brewing a Smoked Porter (the website states an ordinary bitter, but I changed my mind). I’ll get started around noon.
