New Year, New Beer!
What will it be?
Hopburst APA tomorrow. Sam Smith’s Taddy Porter clone on Saturday 8). Happy Brew Year!!
Going to pop the cork on my bottle of Sam Adams Infinium tomorrow night – woohoo!
Well Drew…since you asked. :)
It’s a 2011 American Barleywine on Sunday. 8)
A vienna ale and if time my belgian IPA, belgian base/yeast with american hops
Blew the holiday budget so no brewing for me for a while :-[
Teaming up with a fellow brewer to knock out an APA…and using willamette hops for the first time in a dozen years or so…
Brewed a BDS for the first time on the 28th. OG=1.100. Made my own “Belgian Candy Syrup” from 1/2 lb of light brown sugar. Bubbling like mad in the primary right now. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
10 gallons of CAP on Monday
I am going to try my hand at a Rye APA.
I’ll be brewing a batch of Dry Stout tomorrow.
This will be third new year that I celebrate by brewing a big beer. This year’s big beer is a Belgian Tripel. It will join a lineup that includes an English barleywine and a Belgian strong dark–I have a few of both left.
Czech Pils on Sunday morning.
a belgian wit on Sunday
Brewing my first barleywine (if the LHBS is still open at noon today, anyway). Hoping this is a new year’s tradition. Still pondering recipes while I work, but leaning toward a half-recipe of English Barleywine (Golden) from the Nov/Dec Zymurgy (edit: p 24) or Hard & Hardy from Brewing Classic Styles (p. 252). I’d like to keep this all-grain, which in a 5-gallon mash tun would require two consecutive mashes, the first with a mash-out to stop the conversion.
Dunkel…kinda a cross between Munich and Czech style.
Will brew on Monday. I want to develop a “house” IPA for the year that takes it’s cues from Tyranena Brewing Co.'s Scurvy.
Brewed up a Black IPA!!
Need to bump up the starter on Saturday and do a N. German Pils on Sunday, or Monday.
My son & I brewed an APA on Tuesday. It was the first time we brewed together. He lives ~400 miles away. He’s never done an AG batch before and may be hooked. It was a GREAT day!!! Cheers!!!
No brewing this weekend. Today I added 3 pounds of cane sugar to the 10 gallons of tripel I brewed last weekend. I hope that works out like it’s supposed to, since I have never added sugar to a fermenting all-grain beer before.
I have to blend and bottle my entry for MCAB this weekend, too. It’s a sour solara project. Wish me luck with that.
