Been wanting to knock out a Breckenridge Vanilla Porter clone for a while now. My wife and her best friend love the stuff. OK…so do I! Should be ready to drink by the end of September…Perfect!
A Sorachi Ace Saison split batch w/ WY3711 in one and T-58 in the other, maybe blending it back together after a few taste trials . .
Also, cleaning / sanitizing about two dozen kegs and doing the same on about 60 wine bottles.
I might brew one final hefeweizen for the season. Actually, I might brew a dunkelweizen. Definitely bottling/corking my 2010 dry mead.
I’m brewing an oak ale. I’ve been brewing for years and never made anything oaked. Be interesting to see whether or not I like the results!
Cheers!
I am doing a Saison tomorrow and an American Brown on Sunday. Using WLP 566 on the Saison and the SD Super Yeast on the Brown.
I am participating in the Blue Collar BBQ & Arts Fest in a town nearby. I am setting up a tent as an artist, as a member of a new club called the Unsettled Ale Society, and I will be brewing a batch of beer on site. I am making an IPA along the lines of Green Flash. I will try to post some pics tomorrow, er, later today. Wow, it’s late…
Kegging 10 gallons of Oatmeal Stout, racking and dry hopping 10 gallons of Pliny clone.
Either a Pumpkin Ale for the fall or an Oatmeal Stout. One will get done this weekend and the other the following week or 2. Pretty excited for the Pumpkin Ale thought,
Double brewing Bo Pils today. Done with first one working on the second now.
I chilling a dark wheat now. 45% 2-row, 44% raw wheat (half of it lightly toasted,) 6% pale chocolate and carafa II and the rest a blend of crystal malts. I cereal mashed the wheat with one pound of the 2-row. It’s about a $10 batch, as cheap as I can make one. The mash took a couple of hours. I bought a 27 lb bucket of raw wheat for $11.
Next up is a Cream ale or CAP but I’m Too tired to brew again today.
It finally dropped below 100 last week, so I was able to brew yesterday. I have a blonde ale fermenting away now. ![]()
(Quoting my own post here as a follow-up). I had lunch and a few beers at Rattle and Hum today in NYC. Service was polite and prompt and the beer and food were excellent. There was only one cask available, a Belgian Quad, I think, but I opted for some other draughts. A very good experience this time. My first visit there was when they were only just opened and now 3 years later, they have their act completely together. My server was a certified Cicerone.
In Philly Saturday I had lunch and a flight of beers at Kraftwork in Fishtown. The beer can chicken sandwich was awesome.
Glad it worked out for you, Jeff. The locals gave it a strong recommendation and they couldn’t have been nicer to me when I was there, so I’m glad you gave them a second chance.
going to try my first ever batch of mead.
