These hops are very old. A friend of mine gave me this bag of hops a while back and I forgot what they were. Can I identify these hops by these markings on this hop union bag? I’m planning on making a Lambic with these old hops.
Are you sure they are old enough for a lambic? Five years is a while, but they are pellets in a mylar bag. If they’ve been kept cold in an unopened bag I think you will get more out of them than you want.
I just thought I would ask you fellas before contacting hop union. I messed up, and should of contacted hop union before brewing this dam lambic.
Dang, These hops have been in the freezer since 2007 and the dam hops kept their bitterness. I used 2.25oz in a 7 gallon batch and was shooting for about 10 IBU’s but pro mash calculated it to be more like 50 IBU’s and it tastes like 50 IBU’s. So i’m suspecting the AA were around 8%. I guess it’s not a lambic any longer.
