What's Brewing This Weekend - 2/17 Edition

10 gallon batch of Saison, with half getting the French Saison strain and half getting the Dupont strain (and Brett later on). Also need to bottle a BoPils for my brother’s birthday.

Making a APA with 35% Munich and only 5% crystal. Racking my Altbier to secondary, mostly to clear out fermenter space…

Sweet Stout. And it’ll be my last extract brew

Packing up my gear and brewing at a friends house.  I’m brewing up some Caribou Slobber (Northern Brewer recipe), except I’m gonna try some Canada Malting Pale Ale malt instead of the 2-Row.  I also have to dry hop my Evil Twin so I can bottle it next weekend.

Mashed in the cream ale.  Using Bru’nwater, the pH was predicted at 5.5, measured at 5.48 at 20oC.  Pretty close.

This should be an easy day.  After 7 lagers that used a variety of long mashes and long boils, and a long chilling time to get to 45oF, this will be a piece of cake.  One hour mash at 150oF and a one hour boil, chill to 62oF with tap water.  Nice and easy.

In the midst of mashing my second attempt at Timothy Taylor Landlord, thanks to Hopfen’s tasting notes.  Also smoking 150 pounds of malt for my local brewpub, this time over orange tree chips.

I will do my updated brew next weekend.  Will post the recipe when it is final.

Taught a brew class this weekend and this is what we made:

Sadly nothing. With SF beer week a little to much to do. Next weekend it’s go time though!!

3.5-gallon batch of BIAB Dry Stout on my kitchen stove on Saturday.  I was plenty warm in my PJs and slippers.

5.5-gallon batch of Maibock (double decoction) outside on the brew cart on Sunday.  The high was only about 30ºF - so I had to get dressed.
