What's Brewing This Weekend - 7/22 Edition

what’s the plan, Stan?

I’m trying to squeeze in some brewtime on Monday, provided that it’s not 100 degrees.  It’s going to be the Rebel Red Ale from Northern Brewer http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/recipe-kits/limited-edition-beer-kits/rebel-red-ale-limited-edition-all-grain-kit.html

It’s been a hectic month but I’m finally getting a brew day in on Saturday.  Plus the family is out of town so I’m gonna make it a double session.  ESB and Strong Golden Ale.  Unfortunately it will be very hot out most likely.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get my butt moving very early and try to beat the heat as much as possible.

Birthday Brew.  Pale Ale.

Finally brewing 2011 oktoberfest on Sunday. Making a big starter tonight. Need to bottle/cork last year’s mead at some point too.

Dry hopping an IPA, and hopefully brewing an APA, assuming my brewing equipment hasn’t melted in this heat.

Brewing an amber ale and if the wheat ale is ready to keg, I will do that too.

Oatmeal Stout!

Tomorrow I will brew 165 gal of Bohemian Dark Lager.

Kegging up my house APA to free up a fermentor for my new IPA recipe.  This will be my first use of Citra and I’m looking forward to seeing the results.

Saturday is our inaugural “Delaware State Fair - Battle of the Brews Homebrew Competition”. I am the judge coordinator. We have some 200+ beers to judge. It’s going to be a hot one…and one not to miss. Come One …Come all !

No brewing this weekend. The Quad is happily fermenting and smelling magnificant.

I’ve been asked to help judge the St. Pete Cask Ale festival Saturday.  They expect about 40 firkins!
No brewing.  Might be time to keg the smoked porter.

Jeffy is such a giver.  40 firkins…wow.  That’s humanitarian aid right there.  8)

Looks like oatmeal stout and a bunch of kegging/bottling are on the schedule for me.

cheers–

Gotta work this weekend, so I’m brewing a tripel tomorrow.

I have been told I have to serve an Oktoberfest at a September company function, and I don’t want to serve the one I have had lagering since April (great beer should not be wasted on co-workers), so I’m thinking about cranking an O’fest out with the Rasenmäher Lager Yeast (got a yeast cake of that all ready to go).

I have a cream ale that I brewing. It’s my second all grain so lets see how this goes. My first batch of beer I made was extract cream ale now I am doing the same kit allgrain going back to my humble beginnings.

I will be helping with the judging there as well.  First competition.  100+ degrees.  In a tent.  Should be fun. :o  I hope to finish building my lagerator on Sunday to be ready for this years Oktoberfest fermentation next weekend.

I noticed during the recent MLB All-Star game that the Diamondback stadium had a pool party area…
…Might be nice if your tent had a wading pool area, especially given the temps.

Just chilling down my tripel.  I tried a taste of the Simplicity syrup and found it had kind of honey notes to it.

I’m likely brewing a lager of some sort when I rack an Ofest off its yeast cake.  Then I need to make another best bitter too, almost out.  Will also be bottling a few gallons from my 11gal wild beer barrel/solera and replacing it with some dubbel I brewed for the purpose.

I judged a contest in a venue that was quite warm a month ago, and it was no surprise that some lighter styles won the day.

Denny I have some syrup that tastes like honey too, its called honey!
