What's Brewing This Weekend - 8/13 Edition

Ping?

For me, it’s time to keg the Saison Ordinaire and quite possibly the Caledonian Saison.

I feel like I should get an IPA or some such in the tank in preparation for the move. Maybe I’ll borrow a Denny play and do a RYE DIPA or some such so it’ll gracefully age into a Rye Barleywine if I don’t drink enough of it during the move.

I did a rye DIPA a few years back.  Took a long time to mellow out!

No brewing for me this weekend.  It 's supposed to be in the 90s, so I’m gonna put a chair in the river, read a book, and drink!

No brewing…but I am hoping to get started on my kegerator project this weekend.

I’ll be the brewmaster and the wife will play Alewife Thursday afternoon.

Hefeweizen
Going to mash in with cold water and employ a Hochkurz Mash (aka direct heat) to hit my rests

Ribs seem to be OK, we’ll see how it goes

Good to hear, man…take care of yourself.

It will be in the 90s this weekend with ~85%+ humidity, but I’m manning up and brewing some Dortmunder on Sunday morning.

Forgot to add - racking Fest '10 as well.

No brewing for me, but I’ll be kegging the APA I made last weekend, and a smoked dopplebock I made a while ago.

Oktoberfest - we are doing a German Theme for our Christmas Party so making it for that - might attempt to do a 10 gallon batch tho (usually do 5) as this is my all-time favorite beer and I want to be able to drink more than a few glasses at the party.

Cheers,
Susan

Thanks
Getting in and out of bed is still the worst part of the day.
Once I’m up and around its manageable but every once in a while they poke me a bit as if to say Hey, we’re still here :o

Gonna follow my wifes advice as well as Curly’s

goslow

Fullers ESB clone on Saturday of which I’ll use the 1968 cake for a follow-up Alaskan Smoked Porter clone.

Probably will be bottling Saison, and tapping my Golden Ale (think English lawnmower beer) along with making large volumes of plum wine as the plum glut comes in from the orchard.

I’m going to take a shot at a witbier using orange marmalade a friend of mine made from the bitter orange trees in our backyard.

Cleaning the pantry out with an American Wheat (try out Citra hops for first time) and maybe an English Bitter if all goes well. Got all of my racking/kegging done during the week, though may bottle a few for gifts/competitions from the kegs. Much consumption anticipated with company (my bro, a fellow brewer) in town.

I’m getting after it. Brewed a brown last Monday, wheat tomorrow, brown and something else (maybe stout or Porter) on Saturday. Woohoo!

brewing a dubbel on fri (hopefully).  gonna have .5lb of figs and 1lb of dates.  We shall see what it turns out like.  I’m pretty excited.

Also gotta keep my saison happy at 80F…

Sniffing sour airlocks too…

Nothing in the kettle, but I do have two beers to keg for my buddy’s bachelor party. I also have an amber ale to rack and dry hop.

Well no actual brewing this weekend. Going to bottle my Midas Touch clone I brewed a few days ago. Thought kegging but bottles just seemed right for this one, easier for me to ration out. Which hopefully I can take this to the TN Brewfest to pass out. (Well I guess I should have said hand out, better choice of words.)

No brewing this weekend, but I will be visiting some locals in NYC and Philly.  Looking forward to lunch at Kraftwork in Fishtown Saturday.

If SWMBO concurs, I’ll be doing a double-dog-dare brew day on Sunday:

Brew 1: Fetchez la Vache - a Biere de Garde - Mash in at 9:00; boil by 11:00
Brew 2: Vader - Cascadian Dark Ale - Mash in at 11:30; boil by 1:30

Gotta have some fall/winter brews on tap!  ;D

Decided to brew Sunday instead of Saturday b/c it will be nearly 10oF warmer and a lot more humid Saturday.  Brewing the Surly Furious clone from BYO.  Other brewers I know will be brewing the same recipe.  Next month we’ll be filling a 55 gal. bourbon barrel with this and dry hopping it in the barrel.  This will be our third and, very likely, final brew in this barrel.  The barrel is getting long in the tooth.  :-\
