I’ve learned prices for one thing or another are higher for certain items and lower for another, If I want a large supply of hops , grains , Malt extract I order from Bulkapothcary … I’m just curious if many others order from there or not … I would really like to hear others opinions … Thanks
Hops are bought via Yakima Valley Hops in bulk, everything else is bought at my favorite LHBS. They guy is awesome and I want to keep him in business.
Never heard if the site you’re talking about though.
Same thing I do. My LHBS is excellent, as is YVH for bulk hops.
I stick with organic products whenever possible so my go to ingredients supplier is 7Bridges co-op. Looking over bulkapothecary I would say yo uwould do well to find another supplier. hop prices are more or less in line with retialers, although the big bulk suppliers already mentioned would beat them handily but malt extract prices are pretty high there. if you are not concerned with organic check out morebeer or northernbrewer.
I also buy from Northern Brewer except for there hops . They seem to be very high on the hop price. But everything else seems the norm .
I buy all my hops from Hop Heaven on eBay. I have no idea how their prices compare to others. I just know they’re the best hops I’ve ever found!
I haven’t ever bought from him, but he’s a great guy so I don’t doubt the claims. Every time I remember that it’s hop season, he only has 10# bags left. :o Ha.
Hopsdirect or Freshhops for bulk hops. Farmhouse Brewing Supply does a lot of four ounce packs and seems to always have some on sale that I can pick up on the cheap to play with.
Otherwise I’ve been happy with prices and quality from More Beer and Adventures in Homebrewing for grain and equipment. Otherwise I buy locally.
I like Yakima Valley Hops for my bulk hop purchases and buy most grain locally. Extract is expensive period.
