Cargill Saltzgitter German Pils malt

Got a free sack of malt coming (my choice) from Cargill and was curious if anyone has had the opportunity to work with this (Saltzgitter German Pils malt) one and what you thought of it?  Thanks…

Okay, I guess that’s a no.

Sorry, never heard of it.

Never heard of it either

They have it on Northern brewer site as just their Saltzgitter German Pilsner Malt. But the Cargill malting site says its made in Germany.

Oh well. Thanks for checking in.  Will keep ya posted if I pull the plug on it.

Just noticed it on NB yesterday myself. If you use it and like it I’ll definitely give it a shot. Always game to try a good, new one.

Alright, so I pulled the plug and called Cargill this morning (home with a sick daughter). They will be shipping me
(all expenses paid) a sack of this malt within the week.  I have some summer brews lined up that will hopefully let me ascertain how good this malt is - kolsch, helles, patersbier, saison, cream ale.

I will try to remember to update this thread once I get some feedback on this malt.

Good choice of beers. I look forward to seeing what you think.

Summer is fast approaching and its time to get some good summer brews in order.  I also want to work on an American blond ale recipe with my last WY PC Thames strain. Gotta try to sneak that brew in there too.

The last of my buddies is finally getting married in early Sept, and I want to hone in on some crowd pleasers for him to pick from that  I will brew fresh to serve at his wedding.

Finally getting married? Is this some kind of thing that humans just NEED to accomplish, THE ALMIGHTY MARRIAGE?

More data is needed.

Either way, a blonde with Thames Valley yeast sounds good. I’m really liking lighter styles lately; British, German, Belgian…not saison though.

No definitely not.  Just stating that he is the last of our core group friends to pull the plug. The only thing this human needs to accomplish is to simply make more, better beer.  8)

LOL ;D
