What's Brewing This Weekend - 12/9 Edition

Ok, today may be a day to live in infamy, but is there an infamous brewing happening this weekend?

Doing a 7 days speed bitter for a party on the 17th. Got my starter going last night. also have to tear down and clean a keg, a carboy and a bucket. and I really should bottle the barley wine that’s sitting in a rum barrel for 4 weeks now. blerg bottling. I have gotten so lazy with the keg.

Finally brewing again this weekend after several weeks off.  Brewing up a CAP either Saturday or Sunday.  Then I need to bottle some ESB from the keg for my final round of holiday bottling.

Well, I’m brewing today, not this weekend.  2nd brew session of the week, making Nick Danger porter.  Starting tomorrow I work every day and most nights through the end of the year, so I figured I’d better brew when I can!

Our club is doing our annual 24 hour brew-a-thon camp out at the Sertoma Youth Ranch in Dade City, Fl.  I have the sweet Saturday mid-morning shift.  Everybody is welcome to stop in and brew or watch others brew.  We’ll start at 9pm Friday and brew through to Saturday night, then have a pig roast.

I finally get to brew again on Friday.  Between holidays, funerals and kids schedules every weekend for 2 months has been off limits.

On Friday I’m making an American Wheat and a Farmhouse Ale.

Damn, that sounds awesome.

I’m gonna brew a rye IPA on Saturday I think.  Thought about brewing it tonight, but I just may postpone.

I’m going to brew a baltic porter…I have a slurry of 2206 I hate to waste.

I’m brewing a Scottish Ale on Friday…to start my three day weekend.

Belgian Dark Strong and Belgian Tripel for me this Sunday

Kegging a Cal Common, Robust Porter, ESB and Imperial Stout.

I heart beer.

15 gallons of beer is getting racked tonight, 5 into a barrel, and 10 into kegs. Then hopefully squeezing a Baltic Porter in on Monday.

No brewing, just kegging, cleaning and a couple upgrades to my brewery.

Going to do a Pliny the Elder type of DIPA, but with X-369 in place of the Simcoe.

Brewing up a mild

I’m bottling tomorrow at Woodinville Whiskey

welp, I may be brewing again this weekend since the amber ale I made last weekend may have something wrong with it and become lawn beer.

too bad - aside from the pH being low (5.0) initially for about 15min before I corrected it to 5.3, this was an otherwise perfect brew session.

Gravity has fallen from 1.055 to 1.010 yesterday and its still going strong- if it gets to <1.007 its a dumper… but the bright side is I get to brew again!

Attempting a re-brew of my gold medal winning blonde ale, then a honey hefeweizen.  Need a couple of session beers for the masses again.  All I have at the moment is Imperial this, Strong that, etc… (terrible position to be in!)

I’m going to be doing a pliny clone as well. I have only 2 ounces of the X-369 but maybe I should add it in so we could compare some notes.

What do you know about the X-369?

All I know is that it is called “Son of Simcoe”.  I had looked on line, and it is Simcoe crossed with something else -don’t remember what.  Had some of the beer that Bells brewed with it.  Not as much pine, and the wife did not pick up the cat pee that makes here avoid Simcoe beers.  Was also told that the “Happy Hop” beer poured at Vinnie’s keynote talk at the NHC was made with X-369.

Let me know when yours is ready.

Edited for spelling.
